Welcome message from Bill Rickard
When I first started building banjos, I never imagined that my hobby would grow into the Rickard Banjos company that exists today. As Rickard Banjos launches its new online store and website, I would like to take this opportunity to thank both our loyal customers, and the wonderful team at the Rickard Banjos shop for countless years of support.
I have always striven to design and build high-quality products that honour both the best characteristics and traditions of old-time music instruments. You’ll notice that many of our banjo models now feature audio and video clips, and that our products are organized in a way that makes finding whatever you may need for a new build or restoration as simple as possible. Please take a look around, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about your next banjo project or purchase.
Again, I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation and thanks to everyone in the community that has supported Rickard Banjos over the years. It is my hope that you will continue to find joy in the music that you make and discover. Having the opportunity to assist you on your journey would be one of my greatest pleasures.
Sincerely,
Bill Rickard

November 8, 2016Great site there all you nice folks from Banjo Heaven! I recently bought a Dobson spun over with 12″ head and antiqued pot and hardware. I have been enjoying it immensely these last few weeks. It gives me so much more capacity to shape the sound to fit any situation I enter into and I’ve only scratched the surface of what it will give me as I grow along with this great instrument. It was a lot of fun as well dealing with Sean while Bill was out West. Sean was patient and helpfull as I asked a ton of questions and asked for pictures and videos to help me zero in on my choice. When I finally decided it was sent within a couple days and was packed up well enough to withstand any reasonable abuse. Needless to say I was a very happy camper. Thanks again for a top notch instrument and great service from a friendly staff. All the best! Keith

September 1, 2017My first visit to Rickard Banjos was a real eye opener for me as was my last visit. Bill Rickard is a remarkable man and is one of the kindest, most generous men I have ever met. I mean that with all my heart because they don’t come any more genuine than Bill Rickard. Thanks also for the plant tour Bill, my dear friend Harry and I really enjoyed it.
With regard to what you did for me in rebuilding my 35 year old Fender Leo, The modifications that you and Sean performed on it has allowed me to play it again after a lot of years away from it. The weight difference is just remarkable Bill and my back doesn’t hurt any more even after a couple of hours or more with it. It’s not only much lighter, but I’m certain it’s never sounded better than it does now.
Thank you so much Bill for giving me back my favorite instrument. I’ll never forget what you did for me.
From what I’ve seen, you make some beautiful banjos and guitars and I wish you continued success in all that you do at Rickard Banjos. If anyone deserves it, you do Bill.
With kind regards,
Bud

I was a draftsman at Baldwin Piano Cincinnati in 1964 5 & 6 when they destroyed the Ode Banjo Co. and had the pleasure of creating the Baldwin engineering drawings of all the proposed models from actual Ode banjo parts . Their employee “Clyde Edwards” was a German schooled Luthier who patiently showed me how to work wood to sing &I have Been building ever since !
